Central Tacoma

What I Love About Central Tacoma

In this video, I’m sharing a few of my very favorite things about the Central Tacoma neighborhood. This Pierce County neighborhood really does have it all—in addition to destination dining, lots of shopping, and beautiful parks, this neighborhood in the heart of the city offers fantastic commuting options.

Here are some of my favorite things about Central Tacoma:

Central Tacoma has a huge variety of home types to choose from.

If you’re getting ready to buy a home in Tacoma, Central Tacoma has something for everyone: There’s new construction, historic residences, fixer uppers, and renovated homes all in the mix.

6th Ave is brimming with highly rated restaurants, coffee shops, and bars to try out.

If you’re hungry, I recommend that you head to 6th Ave! A couple of my favorite restaurants along 6th Ave include Primo Grill (enjoy farm-to-table Mediterranean food) and Asado (an Argentine-themed steakhouse). Other popular eateries on 6th Ave include MSM Deli, Bluebeard Coffee, Dirty Oscar’s Annex, Gateway to India, Legendary Doughnuts, Shakabrah Java, The Table, The Red Hot, Silk Thai Cafe, Sushi Tama, and Valhalla Coffee Co. (And that’s really just skimming the surface—there are several other eateries on 6th Ave to explore!)

People’s Park is a wonderful community gathering space.

This 2.14-acre park is a place where people love to hang out together, whether they’re having a barbecue and grilling up dinner or just sunbathing on a hot summer’s day! People’s Park in Tacoma includes a playground, a picnic shelter, a basketball court, and plenty of greenspace to enjoy.

People’s Community Center is a dynamic space with a huge indoor pool.

There’s always something to do at the People’s Community Center. In addition to the pool, fitness center, basketball courts, playground, and more, locals can attend events and classes here and meet their neighbors.

Central Tacoma is in the heart of everything, making it easy to get around the rest of the city.

One of the top perks of living in Central Tacoma is the fact that everything in the area is so easily accessible from here. Highway 16 runs right along the entire eastern and southern border of Central Tacoma, so you can hop on from multiple points and get over to Gig Harbor or connect to Interstate-5 quickly. You also have easy access to Downtown Tacoma, the North End, South Tacoma, the Eastside, Fircrest, University place… and more.
